The Dexter baseball team advanced to the D1 regional finals in Northville Saturday after a 7-1 win over Howell Tuesday.
The Dreadnaughts will face SEC Red rival Monroe for the regional title at 12:30 and with a win the Dreadnaughts will face the winner of Detroit Catholic Central and Mason in the finals at 3:00 PM.
Each team scored a run in the first and Dexter took the lead in the third with a rbi-triple by Colin Jarboe for a 2-1 lead.
Howell loaded the bases n the bottom of the third, but a pop out ended the inning.
Dexter added three more runs in the fourth with the help a two Howell errors and a run-scoring single by Cooper Arnedt for a 5-1 lead.
Connor Granger drove in a run with a bunt in the fifth and Kellen McConnell singled in a run in the sixth to make the final 7-1.
Jarboe led the offense with three hits and two rbi.
Arnedt finished with two hits and a rbi, Evan Pregont two hits, Granger a hit and rbi, Cole Novara and Tommy Alvarado a hit and run scored each, McConnell a hit and rbi, and Brody Barber one hit.
Mason McAllister allowed three hits and struck out one for the win on the mound.
Dexter held off an Ann Arbor Skyline rally for a 5-4 win May 30.
Dexter built a 5-0 lead in the top of the sixth, but Skyline did not quit and rallied for four in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 5-4.
Skyline got a walk in the bottom of the seventh and the sacrifice and a ground out moved the runner to third with two outs, but McCallister got a fly out to McConnell in right field to end the game and give the Dreads the title.
Arnedt and Pregont had two hits and a rbi, while Novara had a double and run scored for the Dreadnaughts.
McAllister went the distance on the mounds with six strikeouts for the win for Dexter.
Dexter reached the finals with a 9-5 win over Huron earlier in the day.
Dexter built a 9-1 lead, but Huron made things interesting with four runs in the seventh to cut the lead to 9-5 before Dexter ended it.
Barber had two hits and two rbi and Novara two hits and a rbi to lead the hitting attack.
Arnedt and McConnell each had two hits, Jarboe a hit and two rbi, and Brady Arbaugh a hit and two runs scored.
Cayden Cappelli allowed two hits and struck out four in five innings for the win.
Dexter improved to 30-9 overall on the season.
