Wilson Park sounded like summer last week as Milan Area firefighters helped kids beat the heat.
During the stretch of hot weather, firefighters turned an afternoon at the park into something extra, giving kids a chance to run through the mist, line up for turns with the hose and laugh their way through a little relief from the heat.
More than 60 people came out, filling the park behind the fire station with soaked grass, happy kids and a little extra community care. The afternoon also gave Engine 2 one more joyful moment with the community before it heads toward retirement.
Thanks to the Milan Area Fire Department for helping families cool off.
