A Pleasant Lake man died in the parking lot of the Meijer store in Scio Township after attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said.

After hearing reports of an emergency situation at the Meijer parking lot, in the 5600 block of Jackson Road, the Sun Times News followed up with the WCSO to ask about the incident.

WCSO spokesman Eugene Rush said at 10:04 a.m. on June 1, WCSO Deputies and first responders went to the Meijer Store in the parking lot for an “unknown medical emergency involving an unresponsive subject.”

“We arrived and rendered emergency aid to a 76-year-old Pleasant Lake, Michigan man who was the passenger in a vehicle driven by his wife headed to a local hospital in Ann Arbor for difficulty breathing,” Rush said. “The victim passed out during the trip and aid was given by first responders however we were unable to revive him, and he passed away on scene.”
