Milan Homecoming Parade Sets New Route

Milan’s homecoming parade will take a new path this fall, ending with food trucks, activities and a community gathering before the football game.

Families looking for a place to watch the Sept. 25 parade will find the procession beginning at Milan Nature Park. From there, it will travel along Platt Road to Redman Road, continue around Milan High School and finish in the school’s back parking lot.

Superintendent Ryan McMahon shared the plans during the Milan Area Schools Board of Education’s July 8 meeting. Members of the Student Council are working with their advisers and school administrators to organize the parade and celebration.

Once the parade reaches the high school, students, families, alumni and neighbors will be invited to stay for a homecoming celebration featuring food trucks and activities before the game.

The new setup gives the community a chance to do more than watch the parade pass by. It creates a place for people to gather and celebrate together before heading into the stadium.
