“Our goal is to bring together–not just the regulars from the senior center, but any senior in the area–for a day filled with learning and community.”
The Saline Area Senior Center (SASC) is preparing for its upcoming 11th Annual Mayor’s Senior Conference on Friday, August 16th. Hosted by Saline Mayor Brian Marl, the complimentary event provides valuable educational content and updates on topics that matter to senior citizens in the area.
The conference promises to deliver a dynamic lineup of sessions and activities designed to enhance the lives of Saline’s senior residents. Saline Senior Center Program Coordinator Andrea Lewis told STN, “Our goal is to bring together–not just the regulars from the senior center, but any senior in the area–for a day filled with learning and community.”
The ½ day conference is scheduled to kick off at 8:30am with a continental breakfast sponsored by Brookdale Senior Living. The programming includes opening remarks by Mayor Marl, three different breakout sessions, a panel discussion with regional municipal leaders moderated by Mayor Marl, and social time. The conference then concludes with a lunch sponsored by the Mayor.
Though the day’s full program isn’t yet final, Lewis did confirm two of the breakout session topics. One session will be presented by local physician Dr. Matthew Moore and will focus on the use of the IHA Patient Portal. The other confirmed session will be led by Senior Center member and long-time Saline resident Jim Cameron, who will focus on the rich history of the Bixby Marionettes.
The conference will be held at the Saline Area Senior Center but folks do not need to be a member of the Senior Center to attend. However, space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register or learn more, interested seniors must stop by or call the Saline Senior Center at 734-429-9274.
