Incident #: 26-1885Location: 600 block of Countryside Dr.
Date: April 27, 2026Time: 3:21 pm
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, officers responded to the 600 block of Countryside Dr. for the report of a larceny from auto complaint that reportedly occurred between 3:00 am and 5:00 am on the morning of April 27th. The complainant stated that there was no sign of damage or forced entry into the vehicle. The complainant stated that she checked in her purse that was in the vehicle and found that the wallet was missing. The complainant stated that the wallet contained identification and various credit cards, gift cards, and other forms of identification. The complainant stated that it had been found that the stolen credit cards had been used at several different retail locations in Jackson County. The suspects were identified as a 35-year-old Jackson man and 37-year-old Jackson man. While canvassing the area it was found that an additional victim in the 600 block of Countryside Dr., had their vehicle entered and items taken from the vehicle. The case was turned over to the investigator for additional investigation.

INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Main Street for the report of a suspect who was attempting to cash a fraudulent check. The officer arrived on scene and made contact with the complainant, who stated that the suspect had arrived at the location and presented a personal check to be cashed, and upon further investigation, determined that the check was fraudulent and had been forged. The officers located the suspect, identified as a 28-year-old Jackson woman and interviewed her about the events that had taken place. The suspect was placed under arrest for uttering and publishing of a forged check and was booked and processed at the Chelsea Police Department and then transported to the Washtenaw County Jail. The case remains open pending warrant submission and review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if charges would be authorized.

Date: May 3, 2026Time: 12:40 am
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street and observed the vehicle swerving into the designated parking area on the road and then occasionally hitting the brakes when no vehicles were present and then speeding up. The officer stopped the vehicle in the 1600 block of S. Main Street. The officer made contact with the driver and asked for their license and vehicle information. The officer advised the driver that they could smell alcohol coming from the interior of the vehicle and noted that the driver had red glassy eyes. The officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle to conduct some standard field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, the officer determined that there was enough probable cause to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol and above the legal limit. The driver was identified as a 64-year-old Manchester man. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The case remains open pending laboratory analysis by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab to determine the level of intoxication and warrant submission and review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if charges would be authorized.
