Incident #: 26-2406Location: 400 block of Savannah Lane
Date: May 24, 2026Time: 11:49 am
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Savannah Lane for the report of multiple larcenies from autos that had occurred. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant, who stated that she had been notified by a neighbor that multiple items from her purse had been found discarded on his front lawn. The complainant stated that she had searched the area and found discarded items that had been taken from her vehicle along multiple streets within the City of Chelsea. The incident was determined to be connected with a string of larcenies from auto reports and two separate stolen vehicle reports that had occurred in the early morning hours of May 24th. The case remains open under active investigation and was turned over to the Investigator for additional investigation.


Incident #: 26-2403Location: 200 block of Wilkinson Street
Date: May 24, 2026Time: 9:30 am
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to the northwest area of the city for the report of multiple larcenies from autos and two separate stolen vehicle reports. Upon arrival, the officer was met by one of the reported complainants who stated that she had gone out to her vehicle on the morning of May 24th and found that her vehicle was gone. The complainant stated that the last time she saw her vehicle was on the evening of May 23rd, when she parked it in the parking lot. The officer then responded to the 300 block of Wilkinson Street and made contact with an additional complainant who stated that he had parked his vehicle in a nearby parking lot overnight and when he went out to the vehicle in the morning, he discovered the vehicle had been stolen. The officer then responded to a series of larcenies from autos that had occurred during the early morning hours of May 24th. The officer made contact with several of the complainants who had reported that their vehicles had been entered, and there were some additional vehicle owners where entry had been made and discovered by the officer, but the complainants weren’t immediately able to be contacted. The officers canvassed the neighborhood and gathered statements on what had taken place. The investigator was called in to assist with the processing of the multiple scenes. A short time after the initial reporting of the stolen vehicles, the Chelsea Police Department was contacted by a neighboring law enforcement agency, which reported that the stolen vehicles had been located at separate locations within their jurisdiction and the vehicles had been recovered. The case remains open and under active investigation.


Incident #: 26-2399Location: 800 block of S. Main Street
Date: May 23, 2026Time: 8:43 pm
INFORMATION: While at the station, an officer received a call from the complainant who stated that earlier in the day, from around 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm, an event was held in a nearby park, and during the event, an inflatable bounce house had been rented and set up for the event participants. The complainant stated that after the event concluded, the bounce house had been packed up, and the items had been left for the rental company to come and retrieve them. The complainant stated that a short time later, he had been contacted by the owner of the rental company, and they stated that they had picked up the inflatable item; however, some ancillary items were unaccounted for. The complainant stated that he was certain the items were present when he left. The case was turned over to the investigator for any additional follow-up.

Date: May 23, 2026Time: 7:20 pm
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Main Street for the report of a retail fraud that had occurred earlier in the day. The complainant stated that they observed the suspect place an item from the shopping cart into their bag and then leave the premises without paying for any merchandise. The complainant provided video surveillance footage, and through an investigation, the officer identified the suspect as an 81-year-old Chelsea woman. The officer made contact with the suspect and interviewed her about the events that had occurred earlier that day. The suspect denied taking any merchandise without paying for it. The case was turned over to the investigator and will be submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if charges will be authorized.


Incident #: 26-2365Location: 100 block of N. Main Street
Date: May 21, 2026Time: 10:02 pm
INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Main Street for the report of an assault in progress. Prior to the officer’s arrival, the caller reported that the assault was no longer in progress. The officers arrived on scene and met with the caller, who stated that a male subject who was leaving the scene as the officers arrived was involved in the altercation and then left prior to the officers’ arrival. The officers went inside the location, made contact with the other party involved, and gathered a statement about the events that had taken place. Through further investigation, the identity of the other party involved was determined, and the subject was contacted, and a statement was taken. At the conclusion, the parties involved did not wish to pursue the matter any further and declined prosecution review.
Incident #: 26-2332Location: 900 block of Moore Drive
Date: May 20, 2026Time: 12:40 pm
INFORMATION: While at the station, an officer took a report by phone regarding a check fraud complaint that had recently been discovered. The complainant stated that she regularly mails checks to pay her bills, and while reviewing her accounts today, she found that multiple checks had been cashed. Further review determined that the checks in question had been intercepted, altered, and then forged. The complainant reported that she had notified her financial institution, and they were in the process of attempting to stop the transactions that were still pending. The case was turned over to the investigator for additional investigation and follow-up into the identity of the suspect(s).
