| INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Park Street for the report of a damage to property complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant, who stated that recently there had been issues with an unknown suspect(s) walking around the area and “messing with vehicles and windows” in the area. The complainant stated that she had walked out to her vehicle this morning and found that an unknown suspect(s) had bent and damaged the license plate on her vehicle. A check of the area found that three additional vehicles had been similarly damaged. At the time of the report, there was no suspect information available. The case will be submitted to the investigator’s office for review. | ||

| INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer responded to the lobby of the Chelsea Police Department for the report of a fraud complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant, who stated that she had received an e-mail from an acquaintance who had been promoting some items for sale. The complainant stated that she communicated with a person whom she believed to be the owner and agreed to put a deposit down on a vehicle that was being sold. The complainant stated that she agreed to send the deposit money via a peer-to-peer payment service and then view the vehicle in person the following day. The complainant stated that she drove to the reported vehicle location and found that the person she had been communicating with did not exist. The complainant stated that she contacted the acquaintance from whom she had received the original e-mail. The acquaintance stated that she had not sent the original e-mail; she suspected that her e-mail contacts had been compromised, and unknown bad actor(s) had been sending similar e-mails to her other contacts.
