| INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer stopped a vehicle for a routine vehicle violation. The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver and proceeded to ask for the vehicle’s registration, insurance, and the driver’s license. The driver was allowed to search for a reasonable period of time and was unable to provide any valid proof of registration or insurance for the vehicle in question. The officer spoke further with the driver and advised the driver that the vehicle was going to be inventory searched and impounded and the driver was asked if there were any guns, knives, weapons, or ammunition in the vehicle. The driver then stated that he had a handgun in his front waistband. The officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and took possession of the loaded handgun. Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as a 29-year-old Dexter man, was a previous Concealed Pistol License holder; however, the license had expired more than a year ago. The driver was issued violations for Failure to disclose CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) to Law Enforcement, operating an unregistered vehicle, and operating a vehicle with no proof of insurance. | ||
Incident #: 26-3867 Location: 100 block of Silver Maples Dr. Date: July 22, 2026 Time: 10:00 am INFORMATION: While on routine patrol an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Silver Maples Drive for the report of a larceny by conversion (Fraud) that had reportedly occurred over the course of approximately four (4) days, approximately three (3) weeks ago. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant, who stated that they had been contacted by phone on June 30th by a person representing themselves as being from Apple. The caller stated there was an issue with her account and that there was a balance that needed to be paid. Throughout the course of several phone calls over the course of four (4) days, the suspect was able to convince the complainant to go to multiple area retail locations and purchase gift cards and then provided the suspect with the activation codes for the gift cards. During the phone conversations, the suspect was able to convince the complainant to go to multiple financial institutions to retrieve money for these purchases. The incident was reported to the involved financial institutions, and the case was turned over to the investigator’s office for any additional follow-up investigation.
Incident #: 26-3951 Location: 200 block of Park Street Date: July 25, 2026 Time: 7:44 pm INFORMATION: While on routine patrol, an officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Chelsea Police Department to meet with a complainant regarding a larceny of a bicycle from the 200 block of Park Street. The complainant stated that he had returned home from work on July 25, 2026 at approximately 5:00 pm and parked his bicycle in the designated parking area. The complainant stated that he went inside his residence and when he returned at approximately 7:20 pm to where the bicycle had been parked, he found that the bicycle was gone and his helmet was lying on the ground. A search of the area was conducted for the bicycle but yielded negative results. The stolen bicycle was entered into the national stolen records database as being stolen. At the time of the report there was no suspect information available. The case was turned over to the investigator for any additional follow-up.
