Seeing the artists at their easels around the community means one thing in Dexter.
It’s the Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival.
This is the 12th year for this annual event. The festival is held from August 12 to 17. The Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival is always held during the third week of August. The festival is sponsored by the Dexter Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee.
This is a community-oriented event that sees artists and patrons from all over the country take to the sidewalks and other spots around Dexter to capture different scenes from around the community from the parks, meadows, rivers, wetlands, wildlife, historical landmarks and architecture. On Friday Quick Draw, artists will fill the downtown and parks as they create an amazing piece of art in three hours.
Starting on Friday the 17th at 2 p.m., the Tent Gallery at Monument Park in downtown will offer patrons and artists alike the opportunity to bring a piece of Dexter home that was created within the week. Admission into the tent is free.
